Severe flooding in the Four Corners region has led to water rescues and impassable roads. Severe flooding in the Four Corners region has led to rooftop rescues and evacuation orders, leading to impassable roads in Colorado and New Mexico. Some residents were told to evacuate low-lying areas in Colorado, New Mexico and others advised to shelter in place until water levels decrease. An unknown number of people were rescued overnight by New Mexico Guard boats, helicopters and amphibious vehicles. In southern Colorado, flooding was even worse than forecast and a full 3 feet higher than a 100-year flood on the San Juan River only a year ago. Some 600 households were told they should evacuate in Farmington, where areas along the San J. River were closed off. The flooding was not unexpected due to two months of heavy rain that ended a summer of drought.
