Fatal 3-car crash blocks westbound Highway 410 ramp onto southbound Highway 167

A driver has been killed and another arrested following a three-car crash in Sumner, Washington, early Wednesday morning. The crash blocked the westbound Highway 410 ramp onto southbound Highway 167 for several hours. The driver was allegedly intoxicated when he veered off the roadway and crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing the second car's driver. A third car was also involved but was unharmed. Troopers have arrested the first driver on an allegation of DUI vehicular homicide.

A driver is dead and another arrested after a three-car crash in Sumner early Wednesday, which has blocked the westbound Highway 410 ramp onto southbound Highway 167 for hours.

The Washington State Department of Transportation responded to the crash shortly before 4:30 a.m., the agency wrote on X.

An allegedly intoxicated driver was traveling northbound on Highway 167 onto eastbound Highway 410 when the driver curved out of the roadway and crashed head-on into a vehicle in the westbound lanes, killing the second car’s driver. A third car was also involved in the crash but its driver was not injured, Trooper John Dattilo wrote on X.

Troopers arrested the first driver on an allegation of DUI vehicular homicide, according to Dattilo.
