Denver reduced unsheltered homelessness by 63.6% from 2023 to 2026, from 1,423 individuals down to 518 Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has unveiled a new homelessness strategy, using the same providers as those used in Denver and Houston, as evidence of her ability to deliver results for taxpayers. The strategy involves increasing coordination with service providers the city has contracted with for years due to increased homelessness in Seattle. This comes after Wilson fell short of plans to add 500 shelter beds by the World Cup and has now pushed her goal of adding 1,000 beds during her first year in office to 2027. The plan involves expanding an ongoing pilot program in Pioneer Square called Streets to Housing.
