Spokane Street Swing Bridge closing this weekend for center lock maintenance The Spokane Street Swing Bridge, also known as the Low Bridge, will close to driver traffic starting on Saturday, October 24, from 4 a.m. to Monday, October 26. Crews will replace the center lock components that lock the bridge's swing spans together. While motor vehicles will not be permitted to drive across the bridge, people walking, biking, or rolling will still be permitted. Transit and travel resources include bus transit, water taxi service, and detour routes for freight and business access to Harbor Island and Terminal 5. This weekend's lock replacement is part of the Spokane Street swing Bridge Rehabilitation Program. The bridge, originally built in 1991, serves as a critical crossing over the West Duwamish Waterway connecting West Seattle and Harbor Island to SODO, local business districts, and Port of Seattle facilities.
