Vice President JD Vance is traveling the U.S. supporting Republican candidates, while another Vance is on a whirlwind tour off Mexico's Pacific Coast. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the United Nations' weather agency, has named a hurricane named Vance off Mexico's Pacific Coast. Despite social media memes linking the two, Vance was next on a list of Pacific storm names devised by the WMO. The lists are reused every six years and alternate male and female names for the North Atlantic and eastern North Pacific regions. The WMO manages the naming of tropical storms worldwide from pre-agreed alphabetical lists decided by five tropical cyclone regional bodies. The last named Vance came in 2014 off Mexico’s Pacific Coast, and the next chance for another Vance will be in 2032.
