One Ocean Week Seattle brings global ocean leaders to the region
Innovators and policymakers focusing on ocean issues have gathered for One Ocean Week Seattle, a week-long event. One Ocean Week Seattle, a week-long event aimed at turning ideas for a sustainable maritime future into partnerships, investment, and new policies, has been hosted by the nonprofit Washington Maritime Blue. The event includes a summit, technology showcases, and workforce programs. Topics include maritime decarbonization, sustainable seafood, renewable ocean energy, and digital ocean technologies. Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson and Danish diplomat Karen Eva Abrahamsen signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday committing Washington and Denmark to work together on clean ocean innovation. The week also includes tours of the Port of Seattle’s Maritime Innovation Center, a 15,000-square-foot hub expected to open in early 2027.
