SDOT begins final block of Alki Point Healthy Street Path following sewer rehabilitation
SDOT begins final block of Alki Point Healthy Street Path following sewer rehabilitation Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has begun work on the final block of the Alki Point Healthy Street walking and biking path following the completion of major underground wastewater repairs by King County. The extension will connect the existing pathway on Beach Drive SW to a newly installed flashing beacon crossing at 63rd Avenue SW. The improvements come after King County completed its Murray Force Main Rehabilitation Project in October 2026, which involved relining 350 feet of damaged pressurized sewer pipe and adding two new air valves to prevent future pipe corrosion. As part of the final path installation, crews will install new wheel stops and Tuff Curb infrastructure to separate pedestrian and bicycle travel from vehicle lanes, including additional loading zones, accessible parking spaces, curb ramps, and permanent Healthy Street signage.
