St. Elizabeth workers to picket for health care coverage - Seattle Weekly

Employees are concerned about a new contract that would exempt some workers from health care coverage based on the number of hours they work. St. Elizabeth healthcare workers are planning a information picket to educate the public about current contract negotiations surrounding health care coverage for employees. The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29, starting at 3 p.m. According to SEIU 1199 NW, St. Elizabeth's parent company, CommonSpirit, has offered a contract that would increase the hours a diagnostic imaging worker at the hospital would need to work to be eligible for health care. This would mean some employees would no longer be eligible to company health care care coverage. This picket is part of a larger effort to raise issues such as pay, low staffing, and barriers to further education.
